Chunky platform ankle boots with a lace up front

A chunky platform ankle boot puts a thick sole under the toe and a wide block heel behind it, so the height comes from the whole shoe rather than from a spike. These have a 12.5 cm square heel, a lug-tread platform, a lace-up front with eight eyelets and a zip on the inside of the ankle for getting them on without unlacing. Round toe, ankle height, vegan PU upper.

Heel and platform

The heel is 12.5 cm and the platform sits under the ball of the foot, which is what takes the pitch out of the height: the foot is not angled as steeply as it would be on a bare 12.5 cm heel. The block heel and the lug sole give a wide, flat point of contact with the ground. It is a tall boot that is walkable, not a tall boot that is only for sitting down.

Lace up, with a zip

The laces run the full front of the boot and set the fit around the ankle. The inside zip is how you actually get in and out; lace them once to your fit and use the zip after that.

Three finishes

Black in a high-shine patent, black suede and brown suede. All three are vegan PU, not leather. The patent is the one that reads as evening; the two suedes go with denim in daylight.

Fit and sizing

EU 36 to 41. Take your usual EU size. If you are between sizes or wear a thick sock, go up; the laces take up the difference at the ankle but not at the toe.

Care

Patent: wipe with a damp cloth. Suede finish: brush, keep dry, and use a protector spray before the first wear. Store upright.
